Located 90 km north of Fort McMurray, The Fort Hills Oil Sands Project represents one of the most promising new assets in the Alberta Oil Sands. Opened in 2017, it anticipated to produce 194,000 barrels of oil per day within its first year of operations.

A&H Steel provided the steel and installation services consisting of six main areas: terminal, utility structures, secondary extraction, mine and tailings, the east tank farm, and froth production.

Given the scope and scale of this megaproject, scheduling and coordination were the primary challenges. Due to our simultaneous involvement on multiple construction sites (and working with several contractors), our ability to coordinate the project internally and externally was paramount.

A&H was extremely proactive in building relationships with all contractors ensuring all sites ran smoothly and that all schedules were met. This mega project demonstrated our ability to live up to the rigorous HS&E requirement that are demanded by Suncor and its partners.
